I've been following this guy for a while now.
i just checked up on him a few days ago and discovered he is the new Fables cover artist. There was a lot of speculation on who would replace James Jean, and i think they made a great choice.
the editors and creators said they basically just discovered him through the internet. Just shows you how the internet can help you out.
so start to put your work out there.
who knows what will happen.
congrats to him.

see it
A few photo related things.
been looking at Gerald Slota.
i've seen his photos in different magazines and websites.
opened my eyes to a different world of photography.
but what i'm really drawn to is his editorial photo illustration work.
not just the aesthetics, but his concepts are just so perfect.
like...perfect.
also
reynard li,
has inspired me to take more photos. check his journal.
i'll have my camera with me all the time now.
yay!

The Shepard Fairey
Another show to go to.
thanks to my brother for bringing this to my attention!
Shepard Fairey is the subject of an upcoming exhibition at ICA.
even if you don't know who he is, i guarantee you know his work.
his famous andre the giant is everywhere. i mean everywhere.
and i'm sure you have all seen his Obama posters everywhere as well.
he went to risd too!
(although supposedly he almost got expelled, funny story for another time)

AHH!
For those of you that don't know already, James Jean finally had his ridiculously anticipated opening at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery (Chelsea) last night. MAN, what I would have done to have been able to be there...you don't even want to know.
anyways the show is up through Feb 7.
(so if anyone wants to go down to NY with me to see it later tell me!!!)
if possible, go.
the gallery has the works on the site.
ALSO! don't forget!
Kenichi Hoshine also has work up at Jonathan LeVine along with Jean.
also, as a side note.
last time i was at Jonathan LeVine they had a Blek Le Rat show up.
most people when they see his work say he knocks off banksy.
what they don't know is, he came way before banksy.
banksy: "Every time I think I've painted something slightly original, I find out that Blek Le Rat has done it as well. Only twenty years earlier..."
